Applications of polyimide films

1. Application in ribbon cables and flexible printed circuits Because the film is soft, has good dimensional stability, and has superior dielectric properties, it is suitable for use as the base material or covering layer of ribbon cables or flexible printed circuits. During the processing, the steel foil Composite with the film under a hot roller, it can withstand high temperatures and chemical treatments such as chemical corrosion and welding. Ribbon cables or soft printed circuits made with it are small in size, light in weight, high in reliability, high temperature resistant, and radiation resistant. Suitable for micro circuits such as computers.

2. Application in wrapping electromagnetic wires - using film as the base material, coating polyperfluoroethylene-propylene emulsion on one or both sides to make an adhesive tape. This kind of adhesive tape can be wrapped around a bare copper wire and then enter a high-temperature furnace (about 350°C). The film shrinks and adheres to the wire, causing the wrapped adhesive tape layers to melt into a whole. After the wire exits the high-temperature furnace, it cools. When using, add a pair of pressure rollers on both sides of the conductor to improve the bonding strength between adhesive tape layers. Features: Good heat resistance, thin and uniform insulation layer thickness, good sealing, which improves the moisture-proof performance, electrical performance, and cut-through resistance of the conductor. Due to the good flexibility of the film, the insulation layer of the conductor is intact when bending, without cracking. . Suitable for H-class and F-class motor windings. The insulation thickness between turns is about 1/3 thinner than that of double-wire enameled wire. It has good thermal conductivity, reduces the size of the motor, and improves the reliability of the motor. It is widely used in spacecraft, high-voltage motors, locomotive traction motors, deep well submersible oil pump motors and metallurgical motors.

3. Application in motor insulation - in addition to excellent thermal, electrical and mechanical properties, the film can withstand compression creep at high temperatures. It is suitable for single layer or composite with aromatic polyamide fiber paper to form H grade medium Small motor slot insulation can also be used as ground insulation and other auxiliary insulation for mining motors and locomotive traction motors. Using polyimide film instead of glass varnished cloth as slot insulation can increase the full rate of the conductor slot by 8%. Under the same machine base conditions, the motor power can be increased by about 20%. In addition, polyimide films can also be used as insulation for high-power electric locomotives, alternators, radiation-resistant motors and various precision motors.

Insulation Polyimide Film

In short, in the field of electronics and electrical engineering, as an insulating material, polyimide film is widely used in aerospace, navigation, general weapons, electromagnetic wires, cables, transformers, speakers, microphones, mobile phones, computers, hair straighteners, and various motors. It is also used as the base material for flexible circuit boards, copper-clad laminates, pressure-sensitive tapes, encapsulating materials for semiconductors, high-temperature capacitor media, and in industrial sectors such as instrument communications, petrochemicals, etc.
