Viscosity of insulating paint
Sep 07, 2022
The viscosity of insulating paint is the main determinant of the penetration rate. This is especially true when immersed under normal pressure. The viscosity of any insulating paint has the characteristic of rising with temperature. The viscosity index in the technical conditions of insulating paint is generally 20 degrees. The actual effective viscosity means that under the condition of immersion temperature, the work should be preheated to the temperature specified in the process specification. At this time, the actual viscosity should be checked from the viscosity temperature curve.
With solvent, the viscosity of insulating paint can be adjusted with appropriate solvent. The solvent volatilizes during drying. The active diluent of solventless insulating paint shall participate in the reaction during the curing process and have a certain proportion, so it cannot be used to adjust the viscosity. The viscosity of solvent-free insulating paint can only be adjusted by adding new insulating paint.
As the solvent with solvent insulating paint will volatilize in the drying process, it is very important to select the heating rate and necessary safety measures during drying according to the characteristics of the solvent.
